To enable this, a system of regular and systematic reviews of performance and goal setting will be maintained. The system (Performance Development Review System - PDRS) will improve communication and enhance working relationships by providing a formal opportunity for the employer and the employee to discuss:

  • Expected standards of performance
  • Expectations of the employee's role
  • Planning and goal setting to improve capabilities
  • Regular review of progress to the achievement of goals
  • Future requirements that arise from organisational change, career advancement or changing environment
  • Link between performance and remuneration

Standards and Guidelines

The process of PDRS will consist of a 12 monthly cycle of goal setting, on-going feedback and dialogue and review. Within the PDRS discussions the employer and employee will discuss and review factors such as:

  • Supervision requirements including the degree of support, coaching and feedback necessary to enhance capabilities
  • Required and desired behaviours, outputs and achievements applicable for the role
  • Developmental requirements necessary to achieve performance targets and/or develop and advance employee capabilities

The performance goals and targets for the coming cycle shall be documented in the appropriate form and changes agreed to during the 12 month cycle period shall be added at the time agreed. Comments and feedback with regard to the progress towards or achievement of performance targets and goals shall also be recorded on the form. The Office of Human Resources will record the dates of PDRS sessions. Divisions, Schools and Offices will be provided with measures on completed/yet to be completed reviews.
